Tell us what you think: How useful do you find the information in the 2009 Canadian Medical Residency Guide?

Welcome to the top resource for medical students in Canada

If you’re currently studying medicine or simply thinking about it, the 2009 Canadian Medical Residency Guide might just be the most valuable — and practical — resource you’ll ever use. Studies have shown that the residency period is the most stressful aspect of medical training. Our goal is to provide high quality and current information to solve part of the puzzle in helping you achieve a successful and happy career. In one place, we’ve brought together all the information you need to make the decisions that are right for you.

Now in its seventh year, the 2009 Canadian Medical Residency Guide builds on the knowledge of the past by adding the most current, comprehensive information available to address students’ uncertainty about which specialty to pursue, obtaining a position in a competitive specialty and matching to a preferred location.

The guide is a joint effort of the University of Toronto and our sponsor, RBC Royal Bank®, with input from medical students, Program Directors, faculty reviewers and physicians from around the country.

Through the generous support of RBC Royal Bank, you can now browse through the guide online, download individual sections or download the entire guide for FREE.

A great deal of effort has been taken to ensure the information contained in the guide is current. It has been reviewed by several national stakeholders. We would like to recognize the Vice Presidents of External Affairs at each medical school and the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) for their valuable feedback and for helping in the national distribution. We would also like to thank Sandra Banner and CaRMS for allowing us to include CaRMS material in this guide.

We hope that the information you find here will help you to achieve your career goals.

Sincerely,

Dante Morra, MD, FRCP(C), MBA
Cory Torgerson, MD, PhD, FRCP(C)
Andrew Loblaw, BSc, MD, MSc, FRCP(C), CIP
